San Miguel de Tucumán will be sub-host of the preliminary competition of the "Festival y Mundial de Tango 2022".

The city of San Miguel de Tucumán will be proud to be the sub-host of the preliminary competition of the "Festival y Mundial de Tango 2022", the most important international contest of that discipline. The tournament, in which local dance couples and those from different provinces will compete for a place in the final stages in Buenos Aires, will be held this Saturday and Sunday at the "Rosita Ávila" Municipal Theater.
The presentation of the cultural event was made this Thursday during an audience headed by Mayor Germán Alfaro at the municipal headquarters of 9 de Julio and Lavalle, together with the organizer of the competition, Nelson Díaz Filipi.
The meeting was also attended by the Director of Tourism and Promotion of Municipal Events, Sergio Senrra, and Councilman José "Lucho" Argañaraz, along with a couple of dancers who demonstrated their skills, as a preview of the great dance competition that will take place this weekend at the Municipal Theater.
"It is important this contest, where we will choose those who will represent us in the Tango World Championship to be held in the City of Buenos Aires. It is going to be an event of great magnitude and of great participation of exponents from different places and countries of the world", emphasized the mayor.
For his part, Argañaraz said that "we are proud that San Miguel de Tucumán is one of the 19 sub-hosts of this competition in the world and the only one in the north of Argentina to have been chosen, something that could not have been achieved without the support of Mayor Germán Alfaro".
The councilman emphasized that "the winners of this preliminary will go directly to the semifinal of the Tango World Championship, so the people from Tucumán will have a great opportunity to show their talent in this beautiful event".
For his part, Díaz Filipi thanked the Municipality and Councilman Argañaraz for collaborating with the organization of the official preliminary competition of the Tango World Cup in San Miguel de Tucumán. "This is the most important event at international level in terms of dance competitions and what this preliminary does, is to open a door for the competitors to have a direct pass to the semifinal, which will be held at the Usina del Arte, in Buenos Aires, and those who pass that round will qualify to the final, which will be held at the Luna Park," he explained.
Díaz Filipi informed that dance couples from Tucumán, Jujuy, Salta, Santiago del Estero, Catamarca, La Rioja, Corrientes, Misiones and Chaco will participate in the preliminary competition to be held this weekend at the "Rosita Ávila" Theater.
