Tango Festival and Tango World Cup BA 2021

The City calls artists from all over the country for the Festival y Mundial de Tango BA 2021: couples, dancers or dance companies, performers, composers and municipal or provincial orchestras, among others, have time to sign up until August 13. The most important event of the 2×4 will be held from September 16 to 26.

The City of Buenos Aires, through its Ministry of Culture, opened this Monday the registration to participate in different artistic calls, within the framework of the Tango Festival and World Championship BA 2021, which will take place between September 16 and 26. There are virtual and in-person calls.

Dancers, couples or dance companies, composers, performers and municipal or provincial orchestras, among others, will have time to register until August 13 on the website www.buenosaires.gob.ar/TangoBA. Those chosen in each category will be part of the new edition of the most important 2×4 event in the world.

The Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta said: "Tango is a central part of our identity. With initiatives like this we support the best dancers, musicians and composers in the country so that they can share their passion for tango with the rest of the Argentine people and with the whole world. We are proud to promote the talent that exists in every corner of our country. So we hope you will sign up and participate to enjoy them once again".

"We continue to bet on the development of work and the generation of new opportunities in the sector. With these new in-person and virtual calls, and under the proper sanitary protocols, we promote tango and the work of our artists", said Enrique Avogadro, Minister of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, who also pointed out that the City of Buenos Aires continues to be a hotbed of talent and professionalism for the country and the world.

Natacha Poberaj is the new artistic director of the Festival. Her experience will bring a renewed vision to this artistic genre. It is the first time in 20 years that a woman occupies this role. Gabriel Soria, Artistic Director for the last 6 editions, will continue to be part of the programming team and will continue to contribute to the historical-academic aspect.

In this regard, Viviana Cantoni, Undersecretary of Cultural Management of the City of Buenos Aires, said: "We believe that Natacha, as artistic director of the TANGO BA Festival and World Championship, will bring a creative and innovative approach because she knows it very well. She is a professional dancer, teacher of tango and Argentine folklore, was the world champion of tango salon in 2006 and is a reference for the new generations of dancers".
