Tango at the Colón Theater

Until September 18 you can be part of the new edition of TANGO BA Festival y Mundial, the most important event of tango culture in the world. As every year, we propose a variety of free activities open to the public to enjoy this great cultural tradition to the rhythm of the 2×4.

On this occasion, the Festival will take over the Golden Hall of the Colón Theater (Libertad 621, San Nicolás) with two recitals filled with a tango repertoire performed by female singers, pianists, violinists and ensembles.

On Tuesday, September 13 at 7 pm, the Vignola-Ruiz Matta Duo, formed by singer Alicia Vignola and pianist Marina Ruiz Matta, two artists with extensive national and international careers, will perform a selection of songs with Argentine roots. Following the classic repertoire of Carlos Gardel and Alfredo Lepera -a basic composing duo in the history of tango-, the artists share their interpretation with new musical arrangements.

The musicians will delight us with songs such as "El día que me quieras", "Volver", "Sus ojos se cerraron" and "Silencio", among other emblematic pieces created in the 1930s by the artistic duo being honored.

The tango party continues! On Wednesday 14/9 at 7 pm we invite you to marvel at the violinist Mauricio Marcelli accompanied by the string ensemble SurdelSur in a concert that proposes a generational crossover between the musicians. In this harmony they will perform an original repertoire with arrangements by Marcelli, some of which are part of the renowned album Mauricio Marcelli y su Octango (1977). You will also be able to listen to original music by the SurdelSur ensemble, who will be performing pieces from their first album with compositions by Guillermo Klein, Diego Schissi and Guillermo Rubino. Ramiro Boero will play bandoneon as guest soloist.

Mauricio Marcelli was first violin and arranger of Osvaldo Pugliese's orchestra for six years and joined the orchestras of Enrique Mario Francini, Argentino Galván, Alfredo Gobbi and Aníbal Troilo. He also accompanied in his recordings singers of the stature of Alberto Podestá, Alberto Marino, Floreal Ruiz and Roberto Goyeneche, among others.

SurdelSur is a string ensemble dedicated to perform Argentine and Latin American popular music. It proposes a look of artistic excellence covering different genres such as tango, folklore, rioplatense music and rock. The group is formed by Guillermo Rubino, Natalia Cabello, Sara Ryan and Manuela Quiroga on violins, Elizabeth Ridolfi and Carla Regio on violas, Benjamín Báez and Paula Pomeraniec on cellos and Cristian Basto on double bass. Musical Direction by Guillermo Rubino.

Both events are free and tickets must be reserved 72 hours in advance.
