In the neighborhood corsito (milonga)
Music: Abel Aznar. Lyrics: Reinaldo Yiso
I met her in Puente Alsina,
In the corsito of the neighborhood,
I was a convict
And she as a colombina.
We played with streamers,
Then with papel picado
And after a while of chatting
Trembling I confessed to her,
I'd like to look at you, mother,
Without your red mask.
And no, of course, the mine wasn't very tough,
The four older sisters
They had to throw them away, Mamma mia mia!
Because I must have asked him
I almost fainted,
I had wrinkled leather,
And one eye was gone,
His lip was crooked,
He was missing five teeth,
A big smiling mouth,
Big as a mailbox,
And a nose like a sweet potato, Mamma mia mia,
And hair all the way down to her forehead.
She came cuddling closer,
As she opened her arms,
I, I dodged the claw.
And she kept on charging.
When I saw her dangerous
I said to her in a gallant tone:
Tomorrow my bright sun,
Where can I find you?
Tomorrow in the Shangri-lá,
I am the elephant woman, I am.
Neither Dracula, the Wolfman,
Nor Frankenstein were anything
I let out a laugh
And she burst like a balloon.
At once came the frolic
I saw her raise her hand,
I closed my eyes and brother,
I don't know what happened next,
I'm in ward ten
I'm in ward ten of the Italian Hospital.
"En el corsito del barrio" is a milonga in which humor predominates in a grotesque tone. This work displays the perception of carnival typical of the tango poetics.
