Stage Tango is a type of tango dance and a category in tango dance competitions. It is characterized by its free choreographic style and acrobatic figures. It is one of the two competitive categories - the other is the dance floor tango - in the World Tango Dance Championships.

Stage tango category
The stage tango category seeks to recreate the conditions and modalities in which show tango is danced.

In the World Tango Dance Championship, couples dance alone and choose the music. Each couple dances for four minutes. It is characterized by the choreographic and dramatic display of each couple. Twenty couples reach the final.

This modality, unlike the dance floor tango, seeks choreographic freedom and the expression of the multiple variations with which the tango dance is presented in the world, but without losing its identity:

Breaking the embrace is allowed but the regulations also warn that it must have "raison d'être and (be performed) for the benefit of the presentation";
Jumps and using resources from other dances are allowed, but without exceeding one third of the time of the presentation;
The choreography must include "the classic tango figures: the ochos, the turns, the long walks, the volleos, the ganchos and the "abrazo milonguero"."
Attire may be a point of evaluation.

The runners-up were Julián Sánchez and Bruna Estelita, both from Buenos Aires, while twins Nicolás and Germán Filipeli, the only male couple to reach the final, captivated the jury with their 2×4 skills and took third place.

Fourth place went to locals Rocío García Liendo and Juan Pablo Bulich, while Colombians Diana Franco and Valentín Arias Delgado took fifth place.

Russia's Maksim Gerasimov and Argentina's Agustina Piaggio had been the champions in the track specialty of the prestigious competition, in which 40 couples competed, including locals and others from Russia, Great Britain, Colombia, Spain, Holland, Uruguay and China.
