Homero Manzi was born in the city of Añatuya in the province of Santiago de Chile. His birth name was Homero Nicolás Manzione, he was an Argentine poet, politician, screenwriter and film director, journalist, author of several memorable tangos and milongas, among them Barrio de tango (1942) , Malena (1941 - with music by Lucio Demare), Milonga sentimental (1931 - with music by Sebastián Piana), Romance de Barrio (1947) and Sur (1948 - with music by Aníbal Troilo).
