Between tango and mate(maticas)

A musical talk that put tango and science in dialogue through the mathematician Pablo Amster (author of the book "Del cero al infinito, un recorrido por el universo matemático") and a small delegation of the orchestra recently declared of cultural interest by the Legislatura Porteña. This exchange took place on Thursday, August 18, 7 p.m. at the Bookstore of the Fondo de Cultura Económica Argentina and was broadcasted live on the institution's Youtube Channel.

With the slogan "mathematics and tango in a single formula", Denise Sciammarella (PhD in physical sciences, artistic direction, research and voice of Sciammarella Tango) will participate along with Cindy Harcha (bandoneon player) and Mariana Atamás (violinist).

SCIAMMARELLA TANGO
It is a female orchestra founded by Denise Sciammarella, singer and doctor in physics, who devoted a great deal of scientific work to the study of the air in the production of the voice. She is a member, since 2001, of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), France. Since 2018, she is also deputy director of the Franco-Argentine Institute of Climate Studies and its Impacts, located at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires. She has also produced philosophical-mathematical texts published in Debates and Combats: No. 2, Fondo de Cultura Económica (2012) and in Filozofski vestnik, Slovenia (2020). The musical group he leads is unique in the field of tango for its active role in what could be called "research tango". They also propose works of their own, such as the tango "Esperando el 24", inspired by the collective of that line, or the Peruvian waltz "Aurora Bernárdez", awarded by the Metropolitan Fund for Culture, Arts and Sciences (2022). The group is an emblem of the growing presence of women in tango and the importance of multiculturalism in the genre. The group includes Cindy Harcha (Chile) and Mariana Atamás (Ukraine), both from different countries.

PABLO AMSTER
Musician and PhD in Mathematics. Full professor at the University of Buenos Aires and senior researcher at CONICET, he has published over a hundred scientific research papers. He frequently gives lectures and seminars in several countries, and writes texts for a wide audience. He performed on numerous occasions alongside Alberto Rojo, musician and PhD in physics. In 2021, Amster joins Sciammarella Tango in a mathematical-musical dialogue that debuted in the framework of " Argentina Florece " and is re-engaged as part of the cycle " Conversaciones de Fondo ".
