De ahí su nombre, que lejos de adscribir a una mirada biologicista o binaria, es una burlona respuesta a aquel refrán inscripto durante tantos años en el imaginario popular, que decía ”el tango es macho”. El tango no es sólo de varones sino también de todas las mujeres y disidencias sexogenéricas que quieran hacer de él su territorio de expresión.
Declarado de Interés para la promoción de los Derechos de las Mujeres por la Legislatura de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, cuenta con el madrinazgo de la Sra. Susana Rinaldi.
Tango Hembra holds the Third International Transfeminist Tango Festival
Tango Hembra brings a feminist perspective to tango, one of the most controversial artistic environments impregnated by the culture of patriarchy. Hence its name, which far from ascribing to a biologicist or binary look, is a mocking response to that saying inscribed for so many years in the popular imaginary, which said «tango is male». Tango is not only for men but also for all women and sex-gender dissidences who want to make it their territory of expression.

La San Luis Tango, an orchestra made up mostly of José’s family, had to cancel their shows scheduled in Switzerland, Poland and Germany in 2020 because of the pandemic. Across the ocean, in San Luis province in Argentina, are his grandmother América and his daughter Sol Magalí, aged 15, whom he now meets via Zoom.
